Now, more than ever, creating opportunities to share our story and partner closely with elected leaders is critically important as banking— particularly regional banking—has emerged as a central issue in the political and policy debates taking place in Washington, D.C., and statehouses across our franchise.

The current-event-driven focus on the laws and regulations that impact the way regional banks serve our customers and local markets is at its highest level in decades. We know that in times of heightened political interest, there is an increased risk for miscalibrations and overcorrections that have the potential to create unintended consequences affecting how we support our clients and the innovative financial solutions we are able to offer. As an industry, we must protect against unbalanced new regulations that could harm access to capital and the economic development investments our footprint communities depend on to thrive.

Our Huntington political action committee (HBI-PAC), the Huntington Colleagues’ Good Government Fund, is critical in supporting this strategy. HBI-PAC allows us to stand together backing the election of candidates across the political spectrum and at all levels of government who share our business values and recognize the importance regional banks play in advancing the national economy and building sustainable neighborhoods.
