Frequently Asked Questions

What are PACs?
They are political action committees, which were created by Congress as a legal way for employees at corporations to participate in political campaigns. More importantly, it’s your way to band together with other colleagues at all levels across the bank supporting bipartisan elected leaders who represent our customers, colleagues, and communities, which advances our purpose and the role of regional banks in driving economic growth.

Are we buying off candidates?
No. HBI-PAC provides a way for us to unite in support of elected officials who understand the critical role Huntington plays in the communities we have the privilege of serving. HBI-PAC amplifies our political voice in supporting qualified, responsible candidates across the political spectrum.

Do I have to contribute?
HBI-PAC’s success is a result of the support from eligible colleagues from all levels, regions and business segments across the bank. Importantly, our PAC believes that every dollar makes a difference, and contributions at all levels can make an impact. We encourage colleagues to make informed, personal decisions that are right for them. Participation, though, is completely voluntary. Colleagues have the right to refuse to contribute to HBI-PAC without reprisal. Huntington Bancshares Inc. will not favor nor disadvantage colleagues as a result of decisions to participate or decline involvement in HBI-PAC. Additionally, the guidelines for contributing are merely suggestions. You may contribute more or less than the guidelines suggest or nothing at all and you will not be favored or disadvantaged by reason of the amount of your contribution or your decision not to contribute.

Do we support just one party?
Banking issues are economic, not partisan. Strengthened by the generous and ongoing investments of our colleagues, HBI-PAC is empowered to serve as a voice for Huntington and our stakeholders with candidates from both political parties and at all levels of government.

We like to say that banking isn’t red or blue, it’s Huntington green.

Why should I participate?
HBI-PAC provides a way for us to unite in support of elected officials who understand the critical role Huntington plays in the communities we have the privilege of serving. HBI-PAC amplifies our political voice in supporting qualified, responsible candidates across the political spectrum.

How much of my contribution goes to support pro-banking candidates?
Every penny you contribute to HBI-PAC goes to a candidate or political committee. The majority of contributions are made in support of federal, state and candidates who impact our efforts in your region. Your generous contributions are used to support to bipartisan candidates and elected officials who recognize the role that regional banks (and the financial services industry, more broadly) play in supporting customers and communities across the nation.
